Planning your quote

What to Include When Requesting a Cleaning Quote

A useful cleaning quote starts with a clear picture of the property and the work you want done. Floor area helps, but it does not explain condition, occupancy, or detailed requests. Gather a few consistent details so you can review a proposal against your actual needs.

Describe the spaces that belong in the quote

Provide the property location, approximate size, and the rooms you want included. Explain whether the home or office is occupied, furnished, partly empty, or between occupants. If only part of the property needs service, identify that portion explicitly. A total square-footage figure should not imply that every room is included when that is not your intention.

  • Bedroom, bathroom, and shared-space counts.
  • Floor types and any stairs within the scope.
  • Rooms, storage areas, or outbuildings to exclude.

Explain condition with specific examples

Share when the included areas were last cleaned and where work has accumulated. Photos can help explain the condition, provided they show the relevant surfaces and do not expose personal information unnecessarily. Include a wider view as well as a close view of a particular concern. Describe uncertainty honestly instead of guessing at what a surface or mark will require.

List priorities, extras, and timing separately

State the main outcome you need, such as regular household upkeep or preparation for a move. List requested extras individually, including appliance interiors or other detailed tasks. Give your preferred date or recurring interval and any actual deadline. Explain practical constraints such as an elevator reservation or a move-in handoff, without assuming the company can meet the timing before it confirms availability.

Review the proposal as a scope agreement

Before booking, check that the written description matches the requested rooms and tasks. Ask about anything that is unclear, including exclusions, access arrangements, and what happens if the condition differs on arrival. When comparing quotes, compare included work rather than the total alone. Save the confirmed details so both you and the cleaner have a shared reference for the visit.
